Ubunchu 4 - French translation

Ubunchu Episode 4

I'm a bit late, but here is the french translation of Ubunchu's french translation of the fourth episode, "Front de liberation des lapins".
This one is more philosophical, as it concerns the touchy subject of licensing. It also relates software licenses and art licenses in kind of a weird way. Just read it and you'll get the idea.

Enjoy the manga, a collaborative work of Hiroshi Seo (writer/artist), C-Quel/Martin Owens (english translation), and the french translators (ZedTuX, JonathanMM, and myself.)

You can get the PDF and the source files at Ubunchu-FR or from this very server. To get the fourth episodes in other languages, or to download older episodes, please visit Ubunchu.net.

DamnVid - Updated download numbers

And now, for some recent DamnVid download numbers:

That's quite an increase compared to my previous report, indeed. It does show that the Linux version is now more popular than the Windows + OS X versions combined... interesting. Taking over the world? Not quite yet.

Compiz Headtracking

Up next, we've got yet more Linux-related stuff... But this one is perhaps more entertaining, if you can excuse my shaky camerawork, because it indeed is a video:

It uses OpenCV to track the user's face, and positions the windows accordingly. I find this clever and fancy, albeit unusable (as with many Compiz plugins). It was well worth the get-it-to-work time, though. Enjoy.

Yay for DamnVid, I should account for a windows and OSX download in those stats :3

I should probably try compiz at some point, if I ever install linux again. Last time I used anything like that it was Beryl in '06, and it looks like things have improved just a little bit.

Really cute effect. And wow, you run KDE SC 4 with Compiz Fusion on a Macbook? Nice setup :)

I'm curious though, how well does Compiz work with KDE SC 4? I had the impression that some of Plasma is integrated into Kwin (or vice versa) already.

KDE works very well with Compiz, no issues at all. There is a "KDE compatibility" plugin but I have seen no difference between having it on or off, things just work smoothly.
However, it doesn't work with the latest Oxygen windeco (with tabbed windows), so I use the Nitrogen deco instead, which looks just as awesome.
