Hmmm, I see what you mean. Just as a matter of opinion though I think it's actually good to make the 'catches' clear to new converts - I mean, we (or at least 'I') use Linux despite those catches because the cool stuff more than counterbalances them right? So I think that's the message that should be conveyed - Linux is not the holy grail of the desktop, there are problems, but it'll be helluva fun ride.

You're right about the cliched-ness though (lol at 'kind-of-clueless Mac user'). It doesn't feel like the author is trying for anything more than simple fun with little facts and 'I see what you did thar's thrown in. Oh well, it's still pretty entertaining :)
